Living Room Makeover

We had a client call us this past winter wanting help updating her living room. She and her family use this living space majority of the time they are together at home, and it was in need of some refreshing. It had a lot of brown with little other color, and the furniture placement was not working well for the family. My client, Yvette of Muy Bueno Cookbook, is a Mexican food blogger here in Denver (check out her recipes at the link! So good!) She lives with her husband and two adolescent kids so the room needed to be pretty while also being comfortable and functional. She wanted to add pops of color throughout the room because color is what inspires her - plus it also provides a good background for photo ops! :)

BEFORE PICTURE

Yvette had purchased an oversized sectional for her space years prior and it was very worn and also too large for the room. With this size of a sectional, no other furniture would fit in the room. We opted for getting her a smaller Pottery Barn sectional and two leather accent chairs to make the room more conversational. She already had the beautiful white built-ins around the TV area (shown below) but we updated the curtains, ceiling fan, decor, and wall art throughout the room too.

We added a photo canvas gallery wall to add some personalization to the room too. I always like to make sure there are family photos scattered throughout the room so that it doesn’t feel like a model home, but instead feels like a real lived-in home. Photos always bring back good memories and help us focus on what is important too.

I love Yvette’s Otomi fabrics too. They add such fun color to the room. Blanket ladders are also useful for storing throw blankets for family movie nights!

The area rug is a beautiful accent to the room and really defines the space. It is bold in color to help provide contrast to the more neutral sofa and chairs. I accented the seating area with pillows that coordinate with the rug as well (most pillows are from Pottery Barn.) Check out the link here for all product links!

We had so much fun doing this makeover and are so excited for all of the memories to be made in this revamped cozy room!
